How can i pull the first date out of a list of dates and put it in its own column?

      Hello!

I need to pull the earliest date from a single date field and populate a new field with the desired date. I need to do some calculations with the earliest date in the field and it is seems impossible without having the first date populate its own field. Anyone ever try anything like this slash have any good ideas? As always, thank you for your time and attention.  Referring to the screenshot, I want the first date for each department, so for the pet department, I want a new column that just has "1/3/2017" for the pet department, I would label this new field something like "first day of sale". I have also attached my packaged workbook using Tableau 10.

      Thanks Andrew
