In my data source, there are multiple date fields stored as unix time. In Tableau, I have created a calculated date field to convert the unix time to a timestamp. My formula is as follows:
DATE(DATEADD('second', INT([UNIX_TIME]), #1970-01-01#))
The formula seems to work fine; however, when I try to refresh I get an error that says "Oracle database error 1873: ORA-01873: the leading precision of the interval is too small"
I tried turning the date fields into text fields and was then able to refresh, but the problem is that I would like to be able to filter the extract on that date field. Is there a way that I can adjust the calculation to avoid this error?
This conversion from the calculated field is going to be pushed back into the database.
It sounds like one of your UNIX_TIME fields is either too large or too small. Take a look at this stack overflow thread;
