Do you mean you want to display a PDF(s) in a dashboard to replicate how it would be shown in a PDF viewer? (i.e. Publish a workbook which displays the PDFs) or do you mean you want some kind of link on the Tableau Server front end to show the PDFs?
Could you elaborate please

subodh Thapliyal Apr 11, 2017 8:43 AM (in response to Vishal Jethwa)HI Vishal,
I have a folder on my physical server, somehwere in D:Drive, which contains tons to PDF's.
I want my user to access that folder using tableau. They can move form one PDF to another and all this should either happen on tableau server or the local machine.
Basically I want user to see their PDF's from tableau server which resides somewhere on our domain machines .
Hope this explains the situation?
Subodh

I think that can be done using URL actions, though I wouldn't use Tableau Server for that purpose as a portal for accessing files. I think you would be better off maybe storing a table of links related to any data and allowing the users to download the relevant PDF based on their search (i.e. if you had a Viz that showed journeys over time with receipts attached, you could explore the data and then view the receipt for the journey by clicking the URL which allows you to download the file).

I have moved this thread to Server Administration for better visibility with other Server Admins.

You're asking your Tableau Server to do something it's not meant to do. It cannot be done simply and it will require custom work (and maintenance) for you. It's a bad idea and if that was asked of me I would say NO and explain why.
