    Calculated Field

    Shailesh Maskar

      Hi People,

I am very much new to the Tableau I want to know about that when we edit the Calculated field so we go Like Analysis --> Edit Calculated Field and there appears "Number of Records" by default I tried to explore it but unable t understand.

Please anyone can explain why there is default "Number of Records" option is available while editing the Calculated field.

          Hi Shailesh

          An educated guess...

Number of records is the count of rows in the data set

          Name     Sales     No of Records

          A           123          1

          B           45            1

          C          78            1

in the above example it would be 3

When you go into the Analysis - Edit Calculated field etc. you get a 1 by default

I believe the idea is that your simply adding a 1 per row of the data, then the sum of this field is the total number of records

          Hope that helps

          Cheers

          Mark
