# How to Calculate % of Target Goal

Hello,

I was wondering if Tableau can calculate a percentage based on target value within a table.  I am trying to recreate the "% Target Goal" row in the Excel table below.  The formula in the "% Target Goal" is set to calculate the percentage of actual headcount towards the official target goal for that term (Official 100%).  For example, the % Target Goal for April 25 is 6% (799/12,931) and  the % Target Goal for May 30 is 18% (2,300/12,931).  I know that I can probably create and join another table that includes only the target goal value.  However, I would like to avoid creating another data table if possible.

Hi Karen,

Find my approach as reference below and stored in attached workbook version 10.0 located in the original thread

1. Transfered Target: SUM([Target (Headcount Dashboard_2.8.17)].[Target])

2. Lookup Target: lookup(([Transfered Target]),LAST())

3. % of real: sum([Actual])/[Lookup Target]

Norbert
