Desktop v10.1.5 on Windows 10 running the sync client.
Publishing to Tableau Online.
I have a csv file that I made as a data source and published to Tableau Online.
The data made it to Tableau Online.
I struggled to get the sync client to work without error.
With great effort I was able to change the path UNC.
That seemed work, but perhaps it was just coincidence because then I was able to add several more csv data sources with a regular path.
I had all three syncing. One was going crazy syncing despite the schedule saying every 15 minutes, it would start updating almost as soon as it finished that last one.
Then all of a sudden, not matter what I tried, none of the three will sync. I walked away for 12 hours and came back. None of them now sync.
Question 1: Is the sync client super flaky?
Question 2: How do you prefer to get CSV data from behind your firewall to Tableau Online?
Question 3: Is there anything wrong with my setup based on the below screen shots?
I want to use Tableau so badly, but without getting data to Online, this project and Tableau is dead to our company. I would really appreciate any help.
I suspect you are encountering a permissions problem. I found this post that references the C$ share and I suspect is the cause of this issue: windows - How to access C$ share in a network? - Super User
Hope this helps!
