That's odd. I was not able to re-produce. What happens when you try and drag the calculation to the filter card by itself?
Also is the calculation green and under measures?

I recommend this ^^
By and large, I usually load up my measure values shelf by dragging things in, rather than by selecting items from the filter list. In fact, it's the only way I have found to drag in measures from a secondary source. ( SUM([secondary source].[measure]) for instance.)
