Do you have more specifics on the datalog system that you are trying to connect Tableau Desktop? Does the datalog system use the ODBC protocol? You can always attempt to use the ODBC connection option Tableau and ODBC
I would also suggest posting a link to the datalog's systems site as there might be other community members that have already successfully connected!
Thanks for your reply.
It is a system on the cloud called DataDog.com. I have read that Tableau SDK is used to get data from systems that do not have ODBC drivers. However, i am not experienced in Python programming and i could not figure out how to connect the dots here.
How can i write code in Tableau SDK that will talk to DataDog API ( Tableau python talking to DataDog Python) ??
DataDog gives this docs on their API. API Reference
If anybody can help with a simple code snippet , i would really appreciate it. (I need only to read data from there, no inserts or updates)
I personally do not have much experience with the Tableau SDK, but there is a great community section for the Tableau SDK that might be able to assist. Tableau SDK
Though another route is to use the Tableau Desktop Web Data Connector . You can use a web data connector to connect to data that is accessible over HTTP and that doesn't already have a connector.
Tableau also has a has a GitHub space which contains all the documentation and Web Data Connector examples. There is some additional information found within the Tableau Desktop Online Product Help Guide .
I had to write some python code to deal with datadog API as per their documentation. I pulled some data and i am in the process of making it work.
i appreciate your replies.
Did you ever figure this out? Do you have anything to share?
I'm starting the process now, and anything would be helpful.
Thanks in advance!
