Are you using Microsoft SQL Server? It only allows up to four split fields. Maybe that's the problem.

Have you tried making an extract of your data before splitting?
An alternative would be to use calculated fields with the REGEXP_EXTRACT function. I haven't had the opportunity to test it, but an expression like
/.+?(?=,)/ should capture everything before a comma.
