# Fiscal Year issues

Dear All

I have to change my Fiscal year from April to January and i have the formula like his for Fiscal this year and fiscal Last year but since its 2017 now my data is sgowing null values as i have no values for jan 2017.Kindly help me at the earliest .

IF (YEAR([Docdate]) = YEAR(TODAY()) and MONTH([Docdate]) >=4 and MONTH([Docdate]) <=12)

or (YEAR([Docdate]) = YEAR(TODAY())+1 and MONTH([Docdate]) <=3)

then 'TY'

ELSEIF (YEAR([Docdate]) = YEAR(TODAY()) and MONTH([Docdate]) <=3)

or (YEAR([Docdate]) = YEAR(TODAY())-1 and MONTH([Docdate]) >=4 and MONTH([Docdate]) <=12)

then 'LY'

END

hi Sneha,

TO make it more simple, please Right click on your Date field, Click on Default properties and then select Fiscal Year.

Hello,

In ur calculated field could u replace "today" with max(date)..

for Max(date) please create a calculated field i.e..,

{ FIXED : MAX([Date])}

Its throwing errors any other suggestions please..Cause i have created many variables using TY and LY so i have to do changes here only.

Its seems bit difficult to understant ur calculation....

It would be better if u attach  .twbx workbook..so that any tableau master can go through ur requirement...

Hi Sneha!

Try the below calculation. When you are comparing calender years data, you need not write the calculation what you have written earlier. Hopefully it will give your desired result. Make sure your data consists last year's January data.

IF (YEAR([Docdate]) = YEAR(TODAY()) then 'TY'

ELSEIF YEAR([Docdate]) = YEAR(TODAY())-1 and

then 'LY' END

If you want compare current year January month data with last year January month then try this:

if YEAR([Docdate])=YEAR(Today()) and MONTH([Docdate])=1

then "TY"

ELSEIF YEAR([Docdate])=YEAR([Today])-1 and MONTH([Docdate])=1

then "LY"

else "Others"

END
