Calculating Percent Difference of a Percent

    Imran Siddiq

      Hi

I've used the Quick Calculation to show the Percent of Total per Month.

In the below, I have 3 Types.

      • With CC
      • Without CC
      • Low CC

I only wanted to see the % of Without CC against the Total per Month.

Thus, we can see 33% of Activity for Feb was 'Without CC'.

That's fine. And I can show it calculating Across and Down when I add the FinYear Dimension,

My issue is calculating the % difference between each month.

I want to see the % difference between Feb and March - where Feb =  33.3% and March = 36.7%

      The % difference should be ((36.7 - 33.3) / 33.3) = 10.2%

      But I'm struggling.

      Attached is the Packaged Workbook.

          Answered with the following.

Created the Quick Calc again as a Created Calculation.

And the performed this onto it:

          ([Calculation1]- LOOKUP([Calculation1],-1))/LOOKUP([Calculation1],-1)

Building onto what Imran has mentioned (which is correct), do the following for easier implementation and readability:

            1) Take your original measure (the SUM(Value) calculation) and drag and drop it into your Measures.

            2) This will create a Calculation which you can name, maybe something like "Percent of Total"

            3) Then using Imran's suggestion, create a new calculation like: ([Percent of Total]- LOOKUP([Percent of Total],-1))/LOOKUP([Percent of Total],-1)

            4) Add this new Measure to your Worksheet.
