Publish REST API - Custom Map distorts

    Prashant Srivastava

I have come across a problem which looks like a bug. Here is what is happening -

      Observations –

      1. When I publish the workbook having custom HERE maps manually from Tableau desktop, there is no problem.
      2. When I publish the workbook having Tableau maps using REST API, there is no problem.
      3. When I publish the workbook having custom HERE maps using REST API, there is a problem. The maps distort after publishing. I tried both REST API versions 2.2 and 2.3.

      Normal case that works -

      1. Using background maps, I use a custom Geo Map in a view.
      2. I publish this workbook to server from the Tableau desktop.
      3. Everything is fine. My custom map works good inside the view.

      Bug case –

      1. Using background maps, I use custom Geo Map in a view.
      2. I publish this workbook to server using REST API.
      3. Custom map is distorted as can be seen below. Countries are not even visible.

These observations lead me to believe that this can be a bug with REST API publish for custom maps. But Tableau support tells me that they cannot help me as they do not audit custom REST API scripts. However they also acknowledge that this could be a bug.

Any pointers will be helpful. It will be also good to know others who have run into the same issue.
