Hmmm... I may be wrong.... but I could've sworn i've done it on a live connect.
Try only highlighting the multiple Week Number columns and pivoting that way?
As always, if you have any sample data or a .twbx that could help us as well
EDIT: Nope, you are right- I'm unable to pivot on my live connection. What you could do is have the views already done in your database (with the pivoting logic completed) or create an extract?
Users doesn't want the extract as they want only Live connection.
Getting it done in the DB is a mess as they don't want to do it for this particular table as this table is used by other business teams as well and they don't want it .
Hopefully, someone will help me with this.
I have found a link that discusses using the pivot, as well as a way to do a pivot using the custom SQL feature of Tableau:
Hope this helps give you more ideas of how to deal with your situation.
thanks for reply but unfortunately it doesn't work that way as they mentioned clearly that the columns that you want to pivot should come from CSV files .
here the following is true:
- Static Column: A comma-delimited list of the columns from Table, both dimensions and measures, which should not be included in the pivot.
I don't know why tableau doesn't allow pivoting columns on Live connections , this should be allowed by default.
