This is my first post here. Forgive me if it was asked before.
I created a dashboard in Tableau Desktop and published it to Tableau Server. The dashboard reads live data from a database.
The data in database change all the time but the users would like to see not only the current state of data but also historical data.
So it would be the best if each day some copies/backups of dashboard was created that could be browsed by Tableau Server users.
What are my options here. Is it possible with Tableau to create some schedule that would make each day a copy of data in dashboard,
stored them somewhere and allow to browse them later?
Thanks for any help
You want Subscriptions. You can also write a command line script using tabcmd to export the CSV or image of the dashboard to a fileshare if you like.
There's an open-source project called VizAlerts that I and Jonathan Drummey maintain which will hopefully allow exports to a fileshare in the next release, without scripting.
