# Quick Calculation: Percentage of Difference from First

Hi.  My total population is the same 550 people who did a yearly survey.  Pls see the chart below.  I am trying to add an annotation on the difference between those responded "Yes" in Year 2016 and Year 2012.  So I use quick calculation (see pic further down). I am  expecting 482 - 428 = 54.  But somehow 360 is given.  Similarly, I want the % of difference and expecting 54/550 = 9.8% but a wrong 295.1% was given.  What should I do to get the correct computation?  Thanks much.

Hi Siang,

Based on above it's hard to tell. Can you share your workbook with the community.

For sure a lot members will help out if they can examine your workbook.

Hey Siang,

You're going to want to change the "Calculate the difference along" from "Table (Across)" to "Specific Dimensions". Not having access to your dataset, I created a similar table using the Sample Superstore data. Since it looks like you have an older version of Tableau, check out the screenshots:

Let me know if this works for you.

Cheers,
