# usually delimits a date constant so you might have a calculation like:
IF [Date] > #2010-01-01# THEN 1 ELSE 0 END

Hi Miguel, the equals sign (=) there means that the field is a calculated field that the user has created. The number sign (#) means that the field has a numeric data type.
As another example, you'll also see ones that say "=Abc" next to them. This means that the field is a calculated field that's a string.
