    Adding multiple custom color palettes?

    Jagdeep Bhogal

      Hi all,

      Does anyone know how to add multiple custom color palettes? What should the layout look like in the preferences file?

      Thanks

          Hi Jagdeep,

          Not sure what you are aiming for but find attached thread as starting point.

            Hi Norbert,

            I've added one custom color palette by adding the necessary code to the preferences file in my tableau repository - it works in tableau. I need to add another custom palette, but when I add in the necessary code in the preferences file, it won't update in tableau. I think this might be due to the way I'm trying to add the second custom palette code in the preferences file.

            Any ideas?

            thanks

              Hi Jag,

              Not sure if you have found the answer to this yet or not, so in case you are still looking:

              If you add the following after your first color palette it will indicate the end of the first palette's configuration: </color-palette>

              Your preferences file should now look something like this:

              ------------------------------------------------------------------

              <?xml version='1.0'?>

              <workbook>

              <preferences>

                   <color-palette name="My First Awesome Custom Color Palette" type="regular" >

                   <color>#91bfdb</color>

                   <color>#ffffbf</color>

                   <color>#fc8d59</color>

                   </color-palette>

                   <color-palette name="My Second Awesome Custom Color Palette" type="regular" >

                   <color>#a1d76a</color>

                   <color>#f7f7f7</color>

                   <color>#e9a3c9</color>

                   </color-palette>

              </preferences>

              </workbook>

              ------------------------------------------------------------------

              Save your preferences file.

              Restart Tableau.

              Both custom color palettes should now appear in the drop down.

              I've tried this with two custom palettes, but I'm assuming that this will work with multiple palettes.

              Happy Dashboarding!
