I am encountering a similar problem, but I don't want to put a blank container over the dimensions. My crosstab is a simple list of customers that is adjusted as the user makes other filter selections and dashboard actions. Then I want that crosstab to be clickable (specifically the name of the customer) to bring up a second list of products sold by that customer (in a separate worksheet on the dashboard). If I put the blank container over my first crosstab, I am unable to use it in an interactive way throughout my dashboard. Any other ideas?
I tested this in various versions of Tableau Server and the 'double-click' to filter action only executes in Tableau Desktop. So, in the event you are publishing your workbook to Tableau Server, this functionality doesn't exist. Hope that helps.
