Hide data source/calculated fields from Tableau Workbook

    Rahul Adlakha

      Hi,

I have to share the workbook with my client, but I don't want to expose the data source/calculated fields to the client.

Is there any way I can prevent someone with the access to the tableau workbook to not able to view the data source?

If not, as an alternative is there any way to remove the option Go to Sheet.

Because if it is disabled then the user would not be able to view the data source and the calculated fields.

      Thanks,

      Rahul

Hi Rahul, even if you are able to prevent access via the user interface, the underlying workbook is stored as xml and can be easily examined.  The only way I know to secure a workbook is with Tableau Server which allows you to publish a workbook and set permissions on what users can do -- but of course this is easier said than done.  Otherwise, you'll need to sit together with your client to ensure that they follow your rules.
