We are seeing about 80 process instances for tabprorosrv.exe in Tableau 10.0.1

Recently we upgraded from Tableau Server 9.3 to 10.0.1(build # 10000.16.0917.1429). After that we are experiencing sever performance degradation. CPU and Memory shot up to 100 percent frequently. We see about 80 instances of the tabprotosrv.exe in the Windows Task Manager. Our server is 8 core with 64GB RAM VM instance running Windows 2008 R2. Could anyone help us with their experience in resolving this issue. We upgraded to 10.0.2 but that didn't fix the problem.

      Thanks for your help.

Did you by chance change your data strategy to start using live connections to your database?  Or did you start running a ton of extracts?  Or did you publish a workbook with 20 live connections being leveraged by 4 simultaneous users?

tabprotosrv is the process that is the intermediary "middleware" between your server and your database.  So each tabrotosrv can represent an active task or can indicate a previous active task.  So if your workbooks have multiple live connections and are being rendered by multiple users, then there will be a lot of tabprotosrv processes, or if you have lots of extract refreshes, then tabprotosrv will be leveraged to get the data and refresh the extract.
