How to protect the TBWX files?

    Niranjan Banarjee

      Hi,

Is there any way we can protect our worksheets in Tableau?

Requirement: While sharing the Tbwx files if we can password protect the tableau worksheets. For example, I don't want my end user to open the Worksheets(source and calculations) using Tableau Desktop version.

Can anyone throw some light on it.

      Thanks,

      Niranjan

          Howdy Niranjan,

If you provide a packaged tableau workbook. You provide the data. They will be able to see all the data from within tableau and all calculations you made. Further they will be able to unpackage the workbook and have a copy of your data as well as a tableau workbook. If it was an excel sheet that the original source data came from they'd see the excel sheet.

Tableau Server/Online allows you to control permissions not Tableau Desktop.

          Best Regards,
