# how to create a parameter slider to get top n customer

Hi All,

i am in need to create parameter with slider to get top n customers.

scenario is, i have 100's of rows after creating a parameter slider step up of 10.

1. first time when click on show parameter top 10 customer will display( 1 to 10 )

2. next, if i click on slider >button then next top 10 customer should display( 11 to 20)

3. next, if i click on slider >button then next top 10 customer should display( 21 to 30)

and same should happen i click on slider <button 11 to 20 , 1 to 10.

is it possible in tableau ?, as i create a parameter slider control however its just adding next rows.

Hi All,

can anyone please guide me on this.........

• ###### 2. Re: how to create a parameter slider to get top n customer

is this not possible in tableau..? if possible can anyone please help me to get this done.

is there any way based on parameter filter option can filter the data.

something like this, if parameter value enter as 10 then automatically filter option can filter 1 to 10 and if parameter change to 20 then 11 to 20 and so on....

write the below calculation and drop on to filter shelf (Make sure Top Value parameter is 10 )

IF INDEX() >= ([Top Value] -9) AND INDEX() <= [Top Value] THEN ATTR([Categeory 1]) END

once you drop you will get pop up, select all and click ok

Now increase the Top Value to 20 and the view will be as shown below, go to filter and uncheck Null value and click apply, you will get the required result.

Thanks,

Sreekanth.

I tried changing your formula with below

IF

RANK(SUM([Value])) >= ([Top Value] -9) AND

RANK(SUM([Value])) <= [Top Value] THEN

ATTR([Categeory 1])

END

RANK(SUM([Value])) >= ([Top Value] -9) AND RANK(SUM([Value])) <= [Top Value]

Hi sreekanth,

thank you so much its work perfect now

just one more thing want to know here is

is there any possibility to get top value parameter list automatically based on the row data no.of rows

like if in row data suppose we have 50 rows then top value parameter list should have 10 to 50 something like this.....

Regards,

In Tableau for now Parameters are not dynamic.
