Unique Active Users by Day, Week, Month

    Eric Schranz

      Hi,

I am still fairly new to Tableau, but I'm loving what I see so far! I have a simple CSV data set with 2 columns (User IDs and date of activity). I am trying to show unique active users by multiple date ranges. It's simple enough to find the daily active uniques (DAU) using the current data by day and COUNTD on User ID, but I want to expand on this to get weekly and monthly active uniques (WAU and MAU).

Ideally, the output would show each and every date with:

      • DAU (for that day)
      • WAU (the count of distinct User IDs for the past 7 days, including the current row)
      • MAU (the count of distinct User IDs for the past 30 days, including the current row)

I've tried using WINDOW functions, but haven't found the correct way to do this with COUNTD. I'm able to get the data aggregated in SQL with the above format, but I wanted to try and do everything in Tableau. Is something like this possible?

      Thanks!
