    Top N Exclusions

    Freddy W

      Hello,

I created a Top N list per the article below which was very helpful. However, I want to exclude certain customers from the top 10 and have them automatically go into the "All Other" bucket. Any ideas on how this can be done? I still want to show top 10 and add up to the grand total.

Create Sets for Top N and Others | Tableau Software

      Customer1

      Customer2

      Customer3

      Customer4

      Customer5

      Customer6

      Customer7

      Customer8

      Customer9

      Customer10

      All Other

      Grand Total

      Thank you

          Hello Freddy,

You could create a calculated field with the measure for utilizing in the top N with the customers specifically identified set to a value of 0.

IF [customer name]='Clark Kent' then 0

elseif [customer name]='Kermit Frog" then 0

          else [sales]

          end

use this calculated field for your Top N calculations but use the actual measure (sales in the example) in the view.

See the attached example in Tableau v10.  The tab 'without ken and sean' has two of the top customers removed for an example of this.

          I hope this helps.
