Tableau Server (Cluster Controller) error on single node server

    Josephine Lin

Hello, I have the following message on the single node server every 5 minute after I reboot the tableau server. I can not figure out how to fix this issue and wonder whether it is abnormal or no? Please advise & thanks in advance.

      pool-48-thread-1   FATAL : com.tableausoftware.cluster.postgres.PostgresController - No Postgres nodes connected

pool-48-thread-1   ERROR : com.tableausoftware.cluster.postgres.PostgresController - No master Postgres node is selected

          Hi Josephine!

What are the symptoms experienced by the user? What does Tabadmin status -v say? Are there any error messages received?

Getting a cluster controller error on a single-node system is not unusual - the Cluster Controller is what spins processes up when they fail and is installed with every installation of Tableau Server regardless of how many nodes in the cluster. Postgres is the Tableau Server Repository that stores everything but flat files and configurations. In a single-node environment, my first thought is a permissions issue with the Run As User account but would need more info to make a better hypothesis.

          Thanks!

The user does not have any symptoms and feels like normal. My Tableau version is 9.3.3 and the Run As User account is a domain user with local admin permission. The Tabadmin status is as below and thanks for your help.

              Hi Josephine!

If there are no user symptoms and Tabadmin Status -V is showing everything as running, it may be a benign error message that's just being recorded by the Event Viewer while the cluster controller does it's job. I did a quick search of our knowledge base and didn't see those errors noted so I can't provide any additional context. If you wanted an investigation into this, you can open a case with Tableau Technical Support for further investigation but without additional symptoms, it may be difficult to pin this down.

              Thanks!
