If you have a lot of specific workbooks & users you want to delete you'll have to use a file. The other option is to manually select each entry you want to delete -- Tableau Server really needs the ability to Shift + Click and Ctrl + Click ! How else would Tableau know exactly which entries to delete?
Toby , can you share a sample content that should be in the file to delete users and workbooks.
I searched but could not find what all the parameters/keys that needs to be passed to file
Can you please help toby

Example batch file for deleting a list of Users:
tabcmd login -s "http://myServer.com" -u terkson -p mypassWord tabcmd deleteusers "C:\Users\terkson\Desktop\My_Local_Files\Tableau\ActiveDirectory_Updating\users-del.csv" --no-complete tabcmd logout exit
The file users-del.csv is plain text and looks like this:

The script is made for .png export but it could be modified to bulk download workbooks and then delete them.
Best of luck!
