Always Include Records Despite DateRange Filter

    Sean Norse

      Hi all,

I'm building a dashboard for survival analysis (per here) and trying to figure out a method to have certain records always included despite their date.

For example, I have a data set:

      ID
      GroupTimeDate
      ID-101-1-1998
      ID-201-1-1968
      ID-31121-1-2002
      ID-4131-1-1986
      ID-52451-1-1992
      ID-61191-1-2001
      ID-72271-1-2003
      ID-8241-1-1983
      ID-92111-1-1999
      ID-101321-1-2007
      ID-111191-1-2002

I include a date range on my dashboard so those looking at it can investigate survival for certain periods of time.  Is there a method I can utilize so that both rows for ID-1 and ID-2 are always included no matter what date range is selected in the filter?

I've thought about creating a formula that ignores the date values for those rows (however, I believe this would exclude them from the dashboard).  Perhaps it is possible to create a formula that sets their date values based on the filter (so they are included) or edit the filter to exclude them?  Any ideas would be helpful.

      Thanks a ton!

Hi Sean! You can do this by creating a calculated field that gives the Date except when ID = ID-1 or ID-2, in which case it gives NULL. For instance:

          IIF([ID]="ID-1" OR ID="ID-2", NULL, [Date])

Then, use this as a continuous date filter and check "Include Null Values".

You'll still want to use the original [Date] field in your rows shelf. This new one is just for filtering.
