    Harish Rachuri

I am working in Contact Center Business Environment. Managers and Supervisors mostly depends on Reports to evaluate and enforce the employee performance and ensure the meeting SLA’s in Customer Resolution Satisfaction.

We have been using SAP Business Objects Reports for above requirement and we want to change the complete project from SAP BO to either QlickView or Tableau Tools. But we have so many outstanding questions changing to other BI tools while meeting the current BI requirements of SAP BO tool

Current Over of Existing SAP BO:

      1. Complete Webi Reports developed on Top of Complex Universe
      2. Customer has wide range filters to chose while running Reports
      3. Working with MS SQL Server and Oracle DB
      4. Real time data is loading to DB and Customer Running SAP BO webi reports to Analyze Performance.
      5. Scheduling Reports (Excel, .csv, .pdf)
      6. Access control to Users

      Current Business Requirements:

      1. Data model (Like universe in BO) should simple and should support with MS SQL Server, Oracle DB.
      2. Reusable Objects/Dimensions. (Like universe in BO)
      3. Reusable filters. (Like universe in BO)
      4. Web based Reporting.
      5. Reports should show Real time data changes in DB.
      6. Customer will select the Report filters and Data should loaded to Reports (Like BO)
      7. Export to Excel, .CSV and PDF options should be available. (Like BO)
      8. Scheduling Option should be there. (Like BO)

Please help us to choose the best BI tools meeting the above Requirements.

Thanks in advance for your help and support

          HI

Benefits - Connecting Tableau to all SAP data allows you to:

          • Create the most comprehensive view of your organization possible

          • Enable self-service analytics and reporting using SAP data

          • Increase productivity while reducing IT and training costs

          • Maximize your ROI in both Tableau and SAP platforms

SAP integration solution provides access to multiple data sources, giving our associates visibility to vital performance information, which greatly improves our decision making capabilities

Impacts of integrating SAP business object and Tableau,

Whereas Tableau is related to the SAP business objects, it’s just like simply telling a story. Regardless of your technical skill, it could visualize your data with great speed. The High-Speed, is not a reference only to the Tableau’s in-memory engine, but one’s ability to do things. SAP Visual Intelligence, still, is tied to the SAP Business Objects Business Intelligence 4.0 platform. SAP’s present customers need the BI platform for supporting their existence in business as well as future business intelligence initiatives.

With native connections to SAP BW, SAP HANA, and SAP, Sybase IQ, it is a sure thing that the many of SAP’s traditional ERP customers are looking at close sight at Tableau. With the essential connections to a long list of data sources, many of SAP’s traditional Business Objects customers are also looking closely. And IT organizations that have been put in the standardized value  on SAP Business Objects  become surprised to learn that their business users are already using Tableau, through a Tableau’s “land and expand” sales strategy,

I don't think it's reasonable to expect that someone will do your evaluation for you on these forums. Your best bet is to contact Tableau Sales to walk through these requirements.

If you have specific questions as part of your evaluation you'd like to look to the community for advice or guidance on though, please post them up here. But posting a list of requirements without one single question makes it difficult to know how to help.

I am just new…Thank for your guidance. We want to analyse on our own ways before going to Tableau Sales Team

We are expecting the answers for the following questions from Forum.

              1. How reliable to build the data model which can support MS SQL Server, Oracle DB?
              2. Can we have reusable objects, dimensions and filter just like SAP BO does?

-Just drag and drop to build the custom reports

              1. Is Tableau is web based Report tool?
              2. Can we have options to export reports and schedule them daily and timely?
              3. How end user friendly to Run the Report of their own just like SAP BO?

                  1. It's completely reliable.

                  2. You can create a datasource in Tableau, sort of like a model where you define calc's group fields etc, then export / save that connection (Export Data Sources ) or better yet, publish it to Tableau Server for users to connect to.

                  3. There is a web editor in Tableau Server for editing existing reports, but it's not as feature rich as the Desktop tool. Web Authoring in Tableau Server | Tableau Software

                  4. Yes you can export reports on demand or on a schedule - Manage Subscriptions

                  5. Very friendly. I cannot compare it to SAP BO as it's an opinion based question.

I think you'll benefit a lot from discussing your specific needs with Tableau Sales and setting up a trial / proof of concept to answer a lot of these questions, specifically where you are comparing back to SAP. I think it's important to see the comparison in your own eyes so you can make an informed decision.

                  I hope this helps!
