Custom polygons for creating filled maps of CT towns, Census Tracts, and school districts!

    Steve Batt

This series of blog posts http://s.uconn.edu/36dhttp://s.uconn.edu/36dcontain custom polygon files and instructions for creating filled/choropleth maps for CT towns and other geographic entities not innately recognized by Tableau's mapping structure. If you've worked with data for CT towns, you've probably realized that Tableau doesn't recognize (at least, yet) town names the way it does counties, states, and countries. These Excel files and instructions will help you join your town, school district, or Census Tract data to a spreadsheet of custom polygon coordinates, allowing Tableau to render these shapes on a filled map.
