Can we show data in a line graph for boundary dates which does not exist in the database

    Damith Gunasekara

      Hi,

I am trying to create a line graph with date parameters where date parameter values refers to different time ranges (Last 1 day,Last 7 days,Last 30 days),I want the line graph to draw even when there are no data for certain dates (If there are no measure values for a particular day the line graph will traverse to 0)it is working fine for dates between a selected time range (Eg:- when the parameter selected value is week, for 7 days from today, for all the days in between if there are no measure values  it will show 0 ) but it is not working for boundary dates,If the 7th day from now does not have data (does not exist in the database) it will not show the 7th day in the graph.

Is there any solution for this issue?

      Thanks,

      Damith

          Hi Damith,

There have to be a Date pill on a view

with a necessary date range, anyway.

One could make a special (scaffold) datasource for that --

it could even be as simple as below:

          id

          1

          2

Then one could be using data blending with this datasource as Primary --

and don't forget to set Show Missing Values to ON to enable date padding.

Then measures would come from Secondary (which is an actual datasource),

and empty cells could be filled with zeroes with the help of a table calculation.

Not a perfect solution though (the initial complexity of even a basic view could overkill), anyway ...

          Please find the attached.

          Yours,
