# Find Min Date Across Data Set

I am trying to find the minimum start date for each respective Company among their divisions.  Below is the data set and desired outcome.

Supplier A          Company 1        Division 1           1/27/16

Supplier A         Company 1        Division 2           2/01/16

Supplier B          Company 1        Division 3           3/15/16

Supplier A          Company 2        Division 1            2/7/16

Supplier A          Company 2        Division 2            4/15/16

Supplier B          Company 2        Division 2             3/2/16

We only care about when a Supplier had a start date with the Company and not the Division.  However, the start date data is tied to the Divisions in our data source and then we have another table that ties Divisions to Companies.  The desired out put would be as follows:

Supplier A - Company 1 - 1/27/16

Supplier B - Company 1 - 3/15/16

Supplier A - Company 2 - 2/7/16

Supplier B - Company 2 - 3/2/16

That would be:

{Fixed [Supplier], [Company]: Min([Start Date]) }

Hi Robert!

A Level of Detail calculation should do the trick here. The allows you to always calculate the minimum date no matter what other dimensions are in your viz.

{FIXED [SUPPLIER] [BUYER] : MIN([START DATE])}
