First pivot on your data set to get the measures in dimension.
After pivot you'll get this view. Rename the pivot field name and values as per below screen shot
Now create a pie chart
Now add table calculation on your Hrs field.
Finally you've to create a dasboard filter action to filter the sub from pie to detail chart.
After selecting any sub you'll get this
I hope this is what you wanted. You're using older version of tableau. However I've attached the workbook (version 9.2).
Let me know If you've any question

Thanks for the help!
Yes, I always used older version (8.3) of tableau, no wonder I didn't see the Pivot option.
Your solution solves half of my problem (percentages portion).
What I am looking for is, when I click on the pie, table should be filtered for non-null values in the appropriate column.
Eg: When I click on "LanguageHrs" portion of pie, I want to see only Student A, E and I rows. Any ideas on that?

Just have a look. I've sort the students. So that you can see list of student with values at top and list of students at bottom with no values. In this way you can see all the student's performance. I hope It makes sense instead of hiding the students with no values. Let me know If you've any query.
Thanks Mahfooj. I guess that works if there is no other way. Good idea though.
I'll work on this. If I get something then will get back to you.
If you don't bother about remaining students which has not attended any of class then I have solution for you.
Create the calculation field as below and put it to filter section and select true.
[Pivot field values]<>0
Check out the result which you were looking for.
Let me know if this helps.
Thanks and Regards,
Brilliant efforts for explanations.
Ashish actually Sony wants to see the all student list in landing page. When she select any pie then only relevant student should appear who have Hrs>0.
Thanks for kind words!
ok. Let me try to dig more in this.

Hi Sony and Mahfooj,
I think now dashboard is giving right results. Please take a look at the same. Please find the attached workbook for the same.
I have created a calculated field as [Pivot field values]>0 and added it in the filter only for the pie chart and selected "True". I have also added the same in the Details Shelf for the pie chart.
Later, For Table, I have just added the above calculated field in the Details Shelf.
After this I have added the action as per below. Please refer the same.
Dashboard without action (Original View).
I hope this solves the problems of action. Sony K, Please refer to this one.
Thanks and Regards,
Ashish good one!! Thanks!
. Thanks Mahfooj.
