The red correct line is under SUM, not CONTAINS.
Click the text "The calculation contains errors", and you will see instructions.
Please correct SUM.
The format of SUM should be SUM(Expression), only one expression.
I had a look at your data.
I suggest using pivot to reform your data.

From data source window, select fields E1980 to nhother10, click the one of the triangles (see screenshot).
Then click pivot.
For more details about Pivot: Pivot Data (from Columns to Rows)
In your case, after pivot, I rename
"Pivot field names" to Item, which contains E1980, ...
"Pivot field values" to Value, which contains the values of each Item.
Thus, thing became simpler.
I just created a calculated filed to classify items into 3 groups: black, white and others.
