# distribution of gender under each category of a dimension.

Hi i am working on a survey data. consider three fields. Id (id for each respondent), field of study, and gender. I have done this graph to show the distribution of people under various field of study. i also want to display the distribution of gender under each category as text. for example, within the circle Engineering i need to show there are x% of female and y% of male as label.

hi Gowtham,

So there are a few ways to go about this...Probably the simplest is to create a calculated field for each gender %age. We can do this by embedding a row level filter into one side of each calculated field so it only counts the Males/Females, and then divide this by the the total...let me show you what I mean!

So for %age of Females the calculated field would be

COUNTD(IIF([Gender] = 'Female', [lid],NULL))/COUNTD([lid])

and for %age of Males the calculated field would be

COUNTD(IIF([Gender] = 'Male', [lid],NULL))/COUNTD([lid])

As countd doesn't (well can't!) count NULLs it only counts the Males/Females

You can then bring these 2 fields onto the Label tiles, and then arrange as required.

Hope this does the trick, and makes sense.
