    YoY% growth + KPI

    Gustavo Hering

      Hi all!

I would like to calculate the YoY  % grouth from2013 to 2014 and set a KPI to follow it (up and down arrows).  All the workbooks I have seen here demonstrate
the calculation using different column  by year, like that:

      Product

      Y 2013

      Y2014

      a

      USD 100.20

      USD 200.00

      b

      USD 2000.32

      USD 1230.00

However my data base is settled in another way, which I understand should be more readable by Tableau:

      Product

      Year

      Sales

      a

      2013

      USD 100.20

      a

      2014

      USD 200.00

      B

      2013

      USD 2000.32

      b

      2014

      USD 1230.00

I simply would like to understand the calculation I have to use to insert a KPI to the YoY % growth.

      Tks guys

          You can try the following:

That will be create your % difference field, which you can 'Edit in Shelf' to get the formula sitting behind it. That formula can be saved to create a new % difference field, from where you'll be able to create a new field calculating whether it's up or down and show arrows using the Shape.
