# Pie chart

Hi,

I would like to have a pie chart for the below table

Project ID
Period
Milestone AMilestone BMilestone C
10001Jan 2016XX
10002Jan 2016XX
10003Jan 2016X
10004Jan 2016XXX
10005Feb 2016
10006Feb 2016X
10007March 2016XX
10008March 2016XX
10009March 2016X

I would like to have period-wise pie chart. The calculation is like this:

in Period Jan 2016 - there are 8 Xs in total. So the pie for Milestone A is 3/8, for B it is 2/8 and for C, it is 3/8.

in Period Feb 2016 - there is only 1 X. So the pie is (=1/1) 100% for Milestone A

Similarly in Mar 2016 - there are 5 Xs. So the pie for Milestone A is 2/5, for B it is 2/5 and for C, it is 1/5.

Thanks,

Suresh

Hi Suresh,

I think that the data needs to be repivoted for the best outcome or you can make a couple of calculations that replace your X values with 1.

I have attached a sample workbook with two options.

Hopefully this helps!

Hello Nicholas,

I am version 9.1 and I am unable to open your workbook. Could you please explain me the steps.

Thanks

Hi Suresh,

I updated the workbook for 9.1.

Option 1

1. Connect to the data source

2. In the Data Window, Select the A,B, and C columns

3. Right-click and select Pivot

4. Build the view as attached

Option 2

1. Connect to the data source

2. Create a calculated field (Analysis> Create Calculated field)

3. Enter the formula: IF [A]='X' THEN 1 END

4. Repeat for [B] and [C]

5. Build the view as attached.
