User filter +Anonymize the rest instead of filter is out

    Richard Sanchez

      Hello,

I have one big extract and want to filters a column based on a user / role filter. This seems easy but what I want is that if you belong to Group A you see all data, if you belong to Group B you see all data but the names of one column have to me anonymized except for 1 value and the same for members of Group C but then other values anonymized

To make it moren clear I've faked some data below in Excel to explain exactly what I mean.

Does anyone know what the best way is to do this in Tableau?

      Kind regards,

      Richard

For now I've created a workaround with a calculated field linked to the Groups I've created on the Tableau Server and use that as a dimension instead of the original REGION filed but I find it a little tricky:

if ISMEMBEROF(USERGROUP B) and REGION = "East" then "East"

if ISMEMBEROF(USERGROUP C) and REGION = "West" then "West"

          if ISMEMBEROF(USERGROUP A) then REGION

          ELSE "Anonymized"

          END

Is there a better way or is this the only option?
