    Tableau 9.2 Action Filters

    Michael Dowling

      Hi All,

I was hoping someone could shed some light on some of the issues I've been experiencing since upgrading the to Tableau 9.2.

I've had to remove specifics due to the sensitivity of the data.

Basically we had a dashboard with 3 worksheets:

      - Worksheet 1 was a 'Over Time' view broken down by month and a colour

      - Worksheet 2 was a 'Type' breakdown with a colour (based on the same dimension)

      - Worksheet 3 was a 'Individual' breakdown with a colour (based on the same dimension)

I recently upgraded Tableau to version 9.2 (both desktop and server) and have been experiencing a few issues with action filters.

What we had setup in 9.1

Action 1: Select Month or colour

      • They can click on the month or a line and it would filter the below 2 sheets
      • This was based on ‘All Fields’ not ‘Selected Fields’

      Action 2: Select Type

      • They could select the ‘Type’ either with or without the colour to filter the sheet to the right
      • This was based on ‘All fields’ not ‘Selected Fields’

      Action 3: Select Individual

      • They could click on one of the bubbles (individuals) and it would go to another worksheet
      • This was based on ‘All Fields’ not ‘Selected Fields’

When I upgraded to 9.2 they the first ‘Month’ filter would work, but then the ‘Type’ filter would then essentially remove the ‘Month’ filter.

Was there any changes in 9.2 around actions/filters? Has anyone else experienced this?

      Thanks,

      Michael
