Sorry, maybe I am just missing it, but is there a difference between the first table and the last table?
No, there isn't a difference. I would like to show it via Tableau Pivot.
I guess I am not understanding why you are trying to pivot the original datasource table if it comes into Tableau in the correct layout.
So, how can I just extract the original data source and show it as is in Tableau worksheet?
The original data source is like this. The above mock up is a simplified manner.
Name Items Week 1, 2, 3 values
I haven't looked at GP's response, but I think I understand the issue you are running into.
There are two solutions.
1) Your fields for Week 1, Week 2, and Week 3 are, most likely, under the Dimensions section on the left hand of the worksheet. If you eventually intend to do any calculations on the numbers in each field, all you need to do is right-click the field and select 'Convert to Measure'. You can now bring the fields to the text mark.
2) The other option is to bring the fields, keeping them under Dimensions, onto the rows shelf. This option leaves you with the 'abc', however.
If this doesn't answer your question let me know.
Thank you very much for the helpful options. The first option helps!
