Our user community has shared a couple viable workarounds until this feature is added to the product:

• One is a monitoring solution that can be found here: Palette Software
• The other is an open-source monitoring tool built by Tableau employees: Introducing VizAlerts, A Data-Driven Alerting Tool for Tableau Server

Any other solution would require writing scripts against the Tableau Server repository database.
