Really? I originally matched to what ALPO has. And I have more than enough memory. Each instance is allocated at 512mb.
Any insights?

We've since moved to 4 on each worker, and removed all cache server processes from Backgrounder-dedicated hosts. We'd share what we have now, but it's been very much in flux over the past several weeks, and we expect it'll change some more soon.
