      Chartered in 1746, Princeton University is a world-renowned research university that provides instruction in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences and engineering. More than 1,100 faculty members instruct roughly 5,200 undergraduate and 2,600 graduate students. Nearly 5,000 staff support the teaching and learning mission of the University.


      The University is seeking a Tableau Developer to join its Administrative Information Services department within the Office of Information Technology (OIT). OIT, with its diverse staff of approximately 300 employees, is responsible for the central information technologies, resources, and infrastructure that support the University's research, teaching, and administrative missions. The departments of Research Computing, Academic Technology Services, Administrative Information Services, Support Services, Enterprise Infrastructure Services, as well as the offices of Project and Technology Consulting and Information Security are housed within OIT. In addition, OIT has centralized operations and planning, finance, contract and vendor management, and organizational effectiveness services.


      The Tableau Developer is a 2-year term position that develops high quality business intelligence services and applications using Tableau. The position also works closely with customers to gather requirements and analyze needs to ensure the successful delivery of business reporting and analytic requirements. Duties also include testing, maintenance and customer support. The Tableau Developer works under the direct supervision of the Senior Business Analyst, CeDAR (Center for Data, Analytics and Reporting).




      Supports the analysis and documentation of business requirements and implements Business Intelligence (BI) solutions using Tableau.


      Works directly with campus users of Tableau to create and support data visualization objects such as custom dashboards.


      Supports clients in the use of Tableau.


      Works with CeDAR staff to provides standard and customized Tableau technical and functional training.


      Supports the security model and report distribution options required by Tableau.


      Works on special projects as assigned by the Senior Business Analyst, CeDAR. 
      3-5 years experience designing and developing Business Intelligence solutions using Tableau.


      Experience in data warehousing.


      Very strong interpersonal skills, communication (oral and written) skills, and the ability to work effectively in teams.


      Strong analytical and problem solving skills.


      The ability to multi-task between and among projects and applications.


      The ability to communicate effectively with a diverse user base having varied levels of technical proficiencies.


      When provided access to personal, proprietary and/or otherwise confidential data, maintains such data in the strictest confidence and follows procedures to ensure the privacy, security and proper use of data.


      Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.


      The final candidate will be required to complete a background check successfully. 
      Working knowledge of other BI tools (Cognos preferred).


      Familiarity with RDBMS technology (Oracle preferred), including the ability to read/write SQL.
