We are working on implementing Tableau at our institution. After building forty or so visualizations from various data sources and using MS Access to create many different databases, we are wondering if we should transition to a different data warehouse model - for example, start using a SQL Server as a data warehouse, connect Access to SQL and Tableau to Access. The reason for the possible transition is that we are hitting the 2 GB limit in Access and having to make many different Access databases for different visualization requests. Has anyone else transitioned from using Access as their database to a different solution with Tableau? If so, what has your experience been and what are your recommendations for someone at a crossroads?
