You can use the Windows "start" command to launch an application maximized.
start /max "" "c:\Program Files\Tableau\Tableau 9.0\bin\tableau.exe"
You can do "start /?" for more information on this command.
I have no idea. Didn't even know there was a .com!
Did you try it?
/Max /Min seem not working with tableau .exe or .com.
All it does is opening the file. Max or Min doesn't have any effect though.
Yes, I tried it and it works for me. Try it for windows notepad, as a sanity check.
Alexander, it works with .exe but it doesn't seem to work with the .com version.
it works well with notepad with /min or /max as expected.
but not with tableau.
>start /max tableau
this command first opened a command window (vertically maximized) very briefly. then opened a regular tableau window. not maximized.
>start /min tableau
this command first opened a window minimized (on task bar) very briefly. then opened a regular tableau window. not minimized.
what might be wrong? I am running on Windows 7 Enterprise.
Yes. It works with the .exe version!
without extension to the executable, it defaults to the .com version.
