Our production server is currently on 8.2 and we are planning on upgrading to 9.0.4 in a few weeks. We are in the process of testing our current reports so we completed a fresh install on our DEV server for 9.0.4 and backed up existing PROD data and restored it on our DEV server. When we view reports and refresh them on the server it works without any issues. The problem happens when you log in to the Desktop Client and attempt to open a workbook on the server that contains published data sources. It seems like there is metadata somewhere that still points to our Production server.
The error says:
Errors occured while trying to load the workbook "C:\Users\me\AppData\Local\Temp\TableauTemp\919269497\workbook.twb". The load was not able to complete successfully.
This workbook contains a Data Source that is dependent on a different Tableau Server. Multiple Tableau Server connections are not supported.
Is there an easy way to fix this issue?
Those references to Temp sound worrisome. What version of Tableau Desktop were you using?
You will need to Edit the Data Connection to point to your Dev instead of Prod. Are you able to do that at least?
