Is there a way to hide some of the columns in the underlying data?

I need them on the shelf to filter, but my manager doesn't want to be able to see them.

      Any ideas?

          Hello!

I think this is not possible, but following can be tried out:

          1. Remove the "view summary/underlying data" permission from dashboard
          2. Create a new sheet in Tableau desktop (cross tab/tabular) including the required columns to be shown.
          3. From the main dashboard – provide an action to navigate to this sheet which will show the relevant data with respect to the selection in the dashboard
          4. Then use the export option to export data in csv
