Hi Blake—We do this internally at Tableau!
We worked with our Eloqua consultants Relationship One to build an ETL process from our Eloqua instance using the REST API. I believe they used Boomi as a cloud ETL tool. Since then they've built out Eloqua Cloud Connectors to pull this data.
Marketing Ops curates the datasource from activity and contact data and publishes the extract up to server so that the rest of the marketing crew can self serve.
Thanks Steve. We are looking into engageing with Relationship One as well, but I wanted to get an idea on the level of effort. The cloud connector looks promising as well.
You can do this pretty easily without any coding: Progress Easyl (http://www.progress.com/easyl) enables you to connect to Eloqua, blend that data with other data sources if you like (Google Analytics, Salesforce, most databases), and import that data directly into Tableau (direct to Tableau Cloud or Easyl can create a TDE file). There is a fully-featured free trial, and a freemium model so you can do this basically for no cost.
Came across this thread and great to see how you came across Relationship One. It's been fantastic working with you! Shoutout to Steve Scamihorn for directing him to our services! For any other Tableau folks out there looking to access Eloqua data by Tableau, shoot me an email. firstname.lastname@example.org
Oh look, a topic I'm very interested in. :-)
I'm a product manager here at Tableau and interested in how people would like to see and understand their Eloqua data in Tableau. Some things I would be interested in finding out are:
How do you use Eloqua? For example which features you do or do not use to help run your business.
What challenges are you facing using the built in reporting capabilities?
Would you be interested in combining your Eloqua data with other data sources for analysis? If so, what are those data sources?
You can reply in this thread or feel free to reach out to me directly at email@example.com
Thanks so much,
Tableau Product Manager
Hi Blake, good news! Tableau's Oracle Eloqua connector is now available in beta. Give it a try, we'd love to hear your thoughts.
