hi, appreciate if u provide me the formula to find out highest value from two different column

The syntax is:

```MAX( [column1], [column2] )
```

The syntax is more tricky when you want the highest of 3 or more columns which is why I created this idea:

MIN( expr1, expr2, ... expr_n )

Hi Kettan, Thank you very much. when i created this formula in my Data source-1 i got a different value that isn't in column1 and column2. i got the correct value after i changed the data source. do you have any idea why it giving so?

Without a workbook to look at, I can only guess.

I do so with questions which you don't need to answer:

Was the data type Text?

Did you use a secondary data source (data blending)?

Did either column contain the value Null?

Dear Kettan,

Actually I am new to Tableu. didn't get what u mean "data type test". I am using 3 data sources no null value in it.

I meant data type (text, number, date) of your columns in your max condition. If text, max will not necessarily return the greatest number, but instead the greatest alphanumerical code, that is, 9 is bigger alphanumerically than 100,000,000. If none of the two columns in the comparison are of the text type, then this isn't the reason.

I see you blend various data sources and therefore think that could be the reason. If you still need to make it work, please share your formula and emphasize which column is from primary and secondary source.
