    How to combine dates?

    Marie Lieter

I have an oldvalue and a newvalue and the date which they were changed. I want to measure an activitythatppened between those 2 dates.

      E.G.

      IDoldvaluenewvaluecreateddate
      1234nulljavascript:;apple12/1/2015
      applesnull12/10/2015

I used the following 2 formulas:

      IF CONTAINS(newvalue , 'apple')

      OR [newvalue] = 'null'

      THEN [createddate]

      IF CONTAINS(oldvalue ,'apple')

      OR [oldvalue] = 'null'

      THEN [createddate]

      ELSE NULL END

      My data looks like this:

      IDDay Createddateoldvaluedatenewvalueoldvaluenewvalue
      1234561/23/20151/23/2015NULLapplesnull
      1/26/2015NULL1/26/2015nullapples
      2/27/20152/27/2015NULLapplesnull
      3/13/2015NULL3/13/2015nullapples

      I want to compare

      IDdateold valuedatenewvale
      1234561/23/20151/26/2015
      2/27/20153/13/2015

I may have used a really roundabout way to get here and something would have been much easier. The formulas may have made it worse.

      Thanks!

          Hello Marie Lieter,

I ran across your post when reviewing older unanswered posts.  Did you find a solution for this issue?

Is it possible to share a workbook with the data as you show here and a few more rows of data and then share the expected output?

In the provided example - how is one to know that 3/13/2015 goes with 2/27/2015 vs going with the 1/23/2015 date?  Is it just that it occurs after a previous datenewvalue?

          Thanks

          Patrick
