I came across similar issue when I joined one of the client newly. This was the cause for it. Before I took over as admin, old server admin used to deploy/upload dashboard to tableau server in incorrect way. Lets say there is already a dashboard by "customer sales". Now there is some enhancement going on for that dashboard. Once enhancement is done, when you republish, you need to replace the same workbook which is already there on server. For some reason if you delete/move the workbook to different site/project and then upload new version of the dashboard, custom views will be lost.
This make sense.
Welcome. Glad it helped. Tableau support also reported same reason during call. If you are satisified, please mark it answered.
Were there any other reasons mentioned on the call with Tableau support that you are referring to in your last post about why custom views would be deleted when a workbook is republished to Tableau server? This is a concern for users whenever I make updates to workbooks and I haven't been able to find documentation about this besides this post.
Alex Katona - Can you please create new thread/post and describe what your issue is and the steps you follow when you update a workbook. Please tag my name when you create it, so that I can take a look and help you with that.
